A fire at Aspetuck Village Condominiums in Shelton destroyed two units and left a third with damage.

The roof of the building was heavily damaged, and Shelton Fire Chief Fran Jones said the fire broke out after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, apparently starting in the back of the building before spreading upward. The heaviest damage was reported in units 211 and 210, with a third unit, 209, also affected.

Jones said the residents were home when the fire started, but everyone got out safely. Firefighters were still monitoring hot spots Thursday morning, though the flames had been extinguished.

The displaced residents have been relocated, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the fire marshal.
