One person is recovering from serious injuries suffered during a house fire in Carteret.
The fire happened Sunday afternoon near Roosevelt and Hayward avenues.
While battling the blaze, firefighters found one of the residents inside the basement where the fire apparently started. The victim suffered extensive burns and was airlifted to the Burn Center at Saint Barnabas.
Two other people inside the home were able to escape without injury. One Carteret EMT was treated for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is being investigated, but News 12 New Jersey was told it is not suspicious.
