An East Windsor man is facing multiple charges following a deadly hit-and-run crash that took place late Sunday night.
Just before 11 p.m., East Windsor police responded to the intersection of Route 33 East and Probasco Road for a crash involving a vehicle and two pedestrians. When officers arrived, they learned that a vehicle was traveling in the center lane of Route 33 when it struck two pedestrians at the Probasco Road intersection. The driver, identified as Herman J. Santos-Morales, did not remain at the scene after the crash, police said.
“Responding officers immediately initiated life-saving measures on both pedestrians,” police said in a statement.
A 37-year-old male pedestrian sustained fatal injuries, while a 21-year-old man suffered significant injuries and was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center. He is currently in critical condition, police said.
During the investigation, police located and arrested Santos-Morales. He is facing multiple charges, including leaving the scene of an accident involving death and leaving the scene while driving with a suspended or revoked license. He was taken to the Mercer County Correctional Facility.
The investigation remains ongoing.
