Embrace the beauty of the season with some winter sports. Yeah, News 12's Nikita Ramos is taking us on a cross country skiing adventure. Make the best of the snow this winter on a road trip close to home to Westchester. We're showing you a hidden gem for cross country skiing, but first, let's show you where to gear up. Sports bar and ski and sport. It's a family owned shop since '78. It's a local hub for all things sports, ski and snowboard. We really try to get an idea of what you're looking for, how you're going to use a piece of equipment. There are a lot of options here. We're focusing on the cross country skis and snowshoes. You're gonna be getting a personal experience to purchase the perfect pair. Well, we got our gear, so now let's hit the trails. Croton Gorge Park sits at the base of an iconic structure. We're right beneath the famous Croton Dam, a spectacular place to be cross country skiing or doing anything else. It's one of more than a dozen Westchester County parks that offers a scenic stretch of fresh snow to stride on. You can see how flat this land is, and it's really good for beginners like me. It stretches out to our south about at least 8 to 10 acres, and you can't beat the scenery. Not much can be compared to the feeling of gliding next to a waterfall. It's about time to warm up and this local business has what you need. The trailside cafe offers plenty of road trip snacks and warm winter meals. It's such a cozy place to refuel after a fun day outdoors in Yorktown Heights, Nikita Ramos uses 12. All right, so the winter fun isn't gonna just stop there though. Great spot to check out, but so many more too. So many more things to do, Tara. Coming up tonight on the show, I'm gonna take you to Camelback Resort in the Poconos for an amazing working. It was an amazing winter adventure. I gotta tell you, it started on the slopes where we were in this. Cozy chair lift with a pull down plastic bubble that kept us warm up the mountain. Then we traded the ski boots for swimsuits, splashed around at an indoor water park, and when the sun went down, we went snow tubing under the stars. I follow the Instagram and I saw on their story today that it is open at 5 o'clock so I texted my friends and I'm like, Do you guys want to go to this? And they said, yes. Packed wall to wall, music blaring, just one item to order. Everyone's talking about the sesame toasted bread. I What Born in Philly, Bradley Cooper brings Philly cheesesteak and a whole lot of fans to the city. Even the NYPD stops in for a wave from the Coupe. From the East Village, I'm Julie Chan, News 12. All right. In this week's road trip close to home, visitors at the New Haven Museum will be captivated by two exhibits commemorating important events in black history in the 19th century. News photojournalist Laurie Goliath takes us there. We are at the New Haven Museum. This exhibit is Amistad retold. The highlight of this exhibition is that the paintings are original paintings created by artists who were instrumental in raising awareness about the revolt in the trials, but also shaping collective memory of the Amistad story. Uh, one of the highlights of this exhibition is this painting done by Nathaniel Jocelyn of Sang Bei Pia, who is one of the leaders of the Amistad revolts. And what's amazing about this portrait is it was done by an artist who would have seen Sang Bei Pia in the flesh. So in some ways it takes us as close to the Amistad story as we can get. We have the keys to the jail. We have the sign of Roger Sherman Baldwin, who is one of the um key lawyers who worked on the defense team. This is an exhibit called Shining Light on Truth, New Haven, Yale, and Slavery, really reentering the histories of enslaved and free black communities in New Haven who were instrumental in the building of both New Haven and Yale. The exhibit complements the new, uh, publication by David Blight, Yale and Slavery and History. The design of the exhibit um is really striking. It includes um the recovered names of enslaved people um owned by Yale's early leaders and donors. What's really captivated visitors coming to the New Haven Museum is this space uh dedicated to Yale's earliest black graduates but also showing the missed opportunities of the 1831 proposal to. Established what would have been the first black college in the nation here in New Haven. There's two really new groundbreaking exhibits, um, Assad retold and Sinning Light on Truth, New Haven, Yale, and slavery that are very much in conversation with each other, really showing the history of the abolitionist networks here in New Haven in the 1830s with clear, um, present day connections. New Haven, Yale, and slavery and Black Women's voices in colonial New Haven are only two of the many programs celebrating Black History Month at the museum. I have to say since we opened uh in November, it's uh been uh very successful. People are really enjoying, you know, coming to the restaurant and buying our products, so we're very happy about it. We've all heard of Swedish fish, but you might be surprised to know the most famous brand is not even Swedish. Oh, OK, so if you want the real deal, News 2's Shakti Dennis takes us inside a Williamsburg candy shop that'll take you straight to Sweden, no passport required. Did you know Swedish people eat more than almost anyone else in the world? We do have a really big candy culture in Sweden, but no need to fly to Stockholm to get a taste. This is one of my favorite ones, um, so it's like a sweet licorice gummy and it's covered in salt. A bonbon in Williamsburg. OK, let's try. Candy hits different. Oh, some flavors, shock, salty. Others keep you coming back. I went to Scandinavia like 15 years ago, and I've just been craving it pretty much ever since. Bonbon blew up on TikTok last year thanks to their Bub's candy. It's a sweet gummy. It's almost like a marshmallow gummy hybrid is what we always say it's very foamy. It's giving the business a total sugar rush overnight we went from doing an average of 50. A day to over 1000. But this shop is more than just a trend. I think it's a combination of textures like with the marshmallowy stuff and the sour and the gummy that you just don't really get as much in American candy. I think the flavors are better. It's even a little sweeter on the conscience. We use a lot of like natural coloring, so like black carrot concentrate turmeric, um, not a lot of like additives. And if her craving hits late night, are open 7 days a week, 10 a.m. to midnight. For more than 40 years, United Skates of America and Seaford has been serving the community as generations have laced up their skates and made memory under the disco lights. My kids were just there. We went as kids for birthday parties to first dates. It's more than just a roller rink. News tells Antoinette Biordi takes us there in this week's road trip close to home. We're here at United States in Seaford where you can take part in one of America's oldest pastimes, roller skating. Safety first got put on the wrist guards just in case. All right, I'm ready to roll. So I haven't been on roller skates in ages. Let's see how I do. Oh Whether you're just starting to roller skate or you've been skating for years, United States of America and Seaford is fun for just about everyone. We offer so many different programs, like I said, from toddlers all the way up to adults. Managers here say a lot of families come to skate on the weekends, and the rink is known for hosting birthday parties and events, but they say they offer a lot more. We do STEM fields for schools in the daytime. We do fundraising for schools in the evenings. We have adult programs multiple times a week, special events on weekends. We had so much fun roller skating here in the United States. Now it's time to roll out to our next road trip close to home, Antoinettes. It's just a great place again, the memories of the birthday parties all coming back to me and then the dinosaur mascot skater that didn't like him too much. No, no.

From boy band heartthrob to Broadway showstopper, Joey Fatone of NSYNC is hitting all the right notes this time in Anne Juliet, a bold reimagining of Shakespeare where Juliet gets a second act and so does Joey. What to be back in New York. It's cold, but it's. it's great. I love it. You know, it's good to be back here in the city. So what happens when Shakespeare meets the sounds of nineties? The show trades tragedy for pop hits. It's Romeo and Juliet, but with a twist and a beat you can dance to. I think that was my heart though, and then break free with with with Angelique, the scene. It's great. Born in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. Not only was he inspired by his dad's love of theater, I was scared crap, but I wanted to do it, but I was not a people person. I was young for some reason. It wasn't until he left New York for Florida in high school that he blossomed on stage. Fatone's Brooklyn roots stayed with him through friendships. My friend Richie and my boy Carmine, I've literally known them since kindergarten. And they have been my best friends. I, you know, we pick up like no time is left off, but we pretty much try to see each other at least 2 or 3 times a year. Back on a New York stage performing for family and a hometown crowd is a thrill. It's fun. It's exciting, you know. My boys come out to see me and I've got my family that lives out here too as well. A lot of my cousins live out in Staten Island. Yeah. So, yeah, they're all gonna probably trickle in at some point in time, and I'm just excited to be here again. Like I said, it's, you know, this is always my first home. This this is my place. The town isn't the only local star on the show. He'll be taking a bow alongside Norwalk's Charlie D'Amelio. Lots of hometown pride to get us all cheering. I'm Julie Chan, News 12.
