Bronx native Tiff McFierce debuted her 'You Can Sit Here' art exhibition at Casita Maria Gallery. She says it was two years in the making, and it is meant to create a sense of nostalgia. It is meant to bring in aspects from her parent's Jamaican immigrant household. Unlike her childhood, she wanted to create more welcoming living room setting. In this interactive installation, there are staples, like a plastic-covered sofa and a cookie container with no cookies in it. Mcfierce tells News 12 about the inspiration behind her art. "Honor how much beauty that Black, Caribbean and BIPOC women globally just always can make out of things. Whether we have a lot, whether we have not as much as we need. We just always can make something out of things . And I picked the living room as that space because it's a few different places to remember like autonomy, choice and freedom," said McFierce. The free exhibition will run weekdays through Aug. 16.
