Yonkers police investigating 'a few' cases of stolen Hondas

Yonkers police say car thefts are currently down 22% citywide, compared to this time last year and are down 16% over the past three-year average.

Some Yonkers residents are on edge after either having their Hondas broken into or stolen.
Yonkers police say they have an active investigation into a stolen Honda CR-V from Wilcox Avenue that occurred on May 27.
Police say they have "a few" other Honda thefts in the 2nd Precinct as a whole, and all are actively investigated by the Auto Theft Unit and Crime Control Strategies Division.
One resident says her mom's Honda was stolen right out of the driveway on May 27.

"Within three minutes, they were off and down the road and they dumped the plates about a block from our house," says Emily, a Yonkers resident.

Police attribute this decrease to increased technology, specifically in their AWARE Room and Crime Control Strategies Division, which aids in deterring theft and assisting in locating stolen vehicles if they do get stolen.
