52m agoYonkers residents gathered Saturday at Yonkers Montessori Academy to audition to be this year's Yonkers Idol.
The event welcomed more than 25 participants ranging from a variety of performances – including singing, rapping, comedy and dancing.
For singing auditions, participants were asked to prepare 1-2 songs, as well as a portion of The Star Spangled Banner.
News 12 spoke with Abel Garcia, a freshman at Pace University and Yonkers Idol finalist last year:
“It was so fun…I didn’t get the win but it was still an amazing experience," Garcia said.
