The Charter School of Educational Excellence girls' volleyball team, known as "The Owls," was honored by the city for their 2024 high school varsity state championship win.
The team, led by their coach, received proclamations from the city and the mayor's office for their hard work, teamwork, and dedication. This is the first time a high school team from the Charter School of Educational Excellence has been honored by the city.
"It feels great," said Kayla Rodriguez, a player on the team. "We worked so hard for this. We lost to this team a bunch of times and it was nice to persevere."
