        Yankees Hall of Famer spreads holiday cheer with Gov. Hochul and SOMOS

        Thousands of free toys were given away to South Bronx families in need ahead of the Christmas Holidays on Wednesday.

        Children in the Bronx received gifts from Yankees star Mariano Rivera and Gov. Kathy Hochul for SOMOS Community Care’s annual toy drive.
        Thousands of free toys were given away to South Bronx families in need ahead of the Christmas Holidays on Wednesday. Gov. Hochul also spoke to attendees, highlighting the importance of this event to the people in the Bronx.
        “I will continue providing health care, support, child care, housing, education, everything that lifts people up, especially here in the Bronx, where the people are so hardworking,” she said.
        In addition to toys, the families also had the opportunity to meet the governor and get autographs from the baseball legend.
