Local World War II veteran and former Mount Pleasant Police Lt. Frank Alagno was honored alongside friends and family at Rosehill Deli in Thornwood for his 100th birthday.
Alagno, of Mount Pleasant, visits Rosehill Deli in Thornwood for his morning coffee and breakfast every day. This is where he has spent every day for the past 40 years getting his breakfast and morning cup of coffee.
Owner Lori Mariconda held Alagno's 100th birthday at the deli Wednesday morning alongside friends and family.
At only 18 years old, Alagno was drafted into World War II and served overseas in Italy. He later went on to work for the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
When asked about one piece of advice he would share, Alagno replied, "My message? Have faith in yourself. Have faith in your God. Take what's given to you, and run with it."
Mount Pleasant Town Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi appeared at the event, alongside local law enforcement, friends, and family.
