The Salvation Army Community Center, located at 520 50th St., was evacuated Thursday afternoon.
A nearby construction crew doing demolition struck the exterior wall of their structure just after 1 p.m.
Sources tell News 12 the wrecking ball at the site missed the intended wall and instead struck the outside brick wall, causing instability throughout the site, shutting down work.
The collapse also damaged the upper corner of a wall at an adjacent building located at 5005 5th Ave.
No injuries were reported.
Emergency responders and city agencies were called to the scene following the incident. The Department of Buildings said its investigation remains ongoing as inspectors continue to assess the site and determine the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
So far, no notice to vacate has been placed at the center.
News 12 reached out to the Salvation Army for comment and is waiting to hear back.
