Wreaths were laid on the tombstones of veterans across the nation on Saturday as part of National Wreaths Across America Day.
This year, Veterans of Foreign Wars 9460 were able to honor veterans buried at Union Cemetery in Stratford.
"My dad being a WWII veteran, my brother being a Navy veteran – it means a lot to take the time and effort to put this together," said Gary Brennan, treasurer for Veterans of Foreign Wars 9460.
Volunteers at the cemetery placed 640 wreaths. The group plans to work with the Boy Scouts to tally how many veterans are laid to rest at the cemetery to have enough wreaths for next year.
