With 100 days until the FIFA World Cup, a new partnership is creating a major opportunity for small businesses across New Jersey.
“La Plaza de Fútbol” is the latest initiative launching at American Dream in East Rutherford. The 39-day small business marketplace will give local entrepreneurs the chance to showcase their products and services during the global tournament.
Organizers say the goal is to give visitors from around the world “a true taste of New Jersey, its culture, its entrepreneurship and its diversity.”
The marketplace will take place from June 11 through July 19 and could feature up to 1,000 small businesses.
Leaders say the initiative has been designed to ensure small businesses benefit from what they describe as a once-in-a-lifetime economic opportunity.
In addition to highlighting entrepreneurship, La Plaza de Fútbol will also serve as a cultural celebration. Organizers say upcoming announcements will include major sponsors, artist showcases and cultural exhibitions to enhance the experience.
With the FIFA Fan Festival now canceled, organizers say this marketplace provides another way to support small businesses and create a welcoming space for visitors.
The partnership includes the New Jersey Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, along with other statewide organizations working together to promote inclusion and collaboration.
Vendor applications are expected to open in early April. To participate, businesses must be certified small businesses in the state.
