A worker was killed late Friday night after becoming trapped in machinery at a business in Newark.

Emergency crews responded to the scene on Hudson Street around 11:20 p.m. after reports that a man had been pinned inside a machine.

Firefighters were able to lift the equipment and free the worker, who had become stuck between a malfunctioning conveyor belt and a stainless-steel tray.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not immediately clear how the worker became trapped.
