An inmate who escaped from a New London hospital early Monday is back in custody.

Police say 39‑year‑old Nicole Blesse of Waterbury left Lawrence Memorial Hospital around 4 a.m. after slipping out of her wrist restraints. She was being held at the York Correctional Institution in Niantic.

Blesse is unsentenced and charged with failure to appear in the first degree. She was awaiting a court date with a bond set at $6,000.
