A 34-year-old woman is accused of carjacking and intentionally running over an 84-year-old woman.
Dareine Heller now faces multiple charges.
The 84-year-old woman was trying to park her car outside a East Setauket Walmart and got out to move a shopping cart in the middle of the parking spot.
That’s when authorities say Heller got behind the wheel and tried to drive the car away - but the victim approached.
Police say there was a struggle, and Heller shoved the 84-year-old victim to the ground, then intentionally ran her over and dragged her.
Heller fled the scene, leaving damage in her wake, police said.
She allegedly struck a pole, stop sign, a vehicle and a retaining wall. She was arrested a little more than two hours later about 2 miles away in a parking lot on Pond Path.
Heller was hospitalized and has not yet been arraigned.
The victim suffered serious injuries.
