Winds will back down through the overnight hours into Thursday, but only compared to Wednesday.

Expect a windy and chilly Thursday all across the Hudson Valley. In the wake of the storm system's cold front, arctic air will be rushing in from late Wednesday into Thursday. This will make the temperatures take a tumble from the 50s and 60s on Wednesday to the 30s on Thursday. That is just for the air temperature. Factor in persistent winds, and the temps will feel into the 20s.

And in the morning hours, with the possibility of standing water on the roads and walkways, black ice may form. This would make navigating a concern, especially for the morning commute with cars going over off-ramps, on-ramps, overpasses and down less-traveled roads. Take caution out and about Thursday.

For Friday and into the weekend, temperatures will start cold but slowly get milder. It will turn from the 30s turn to 40s from Friday into Sunday with low chances for showers. That chance shoots up for Sunday night into Monday though with another system moving in.
