Overall, today is a good outdoor weather day, but there are a few things to keep in mind! There will be wind gusts up to around 30 mph with low humidity under a mix of sun and clouds. The windier and very dry conditions mean that there is an elevated risk of fire spread.
Also, for the first time this year, the UV index is an eight which is very high. This means sunburn times can occur in as little as around 15 to 20 minutes. Use sunscreen and reapply every couple of hours!
Tree pollen counts also remain incredibly high, leading to an easier risk of allergy symptoms.
Later this evening, an area of showers and thunderstorms will start to weaken as it approaches the lower Hudson Valley. While there can be an isolated downpour in western Orange and Ulster Counties, much of the lower Hudson Valley will just get a passing light rain shower or two after 8 p.m. and through just after midnight.
Tomorrow will be nice again ahead of some more clouds and a late-day rain shower chance on Thursday.
Friday will not be a washout, but there will be a few spotty showers and a thunderstorm chance through the day.
THE WEEKEND:
Saturday looks to be trending wetter with periods of rain showers and highs near 69 degrees. Sunday is the better half of the weekend and the start of next week will be nice, too with high temperatures back into the 70s.
