The streak of intense cold weather will continue through Monday for Long Island. However, there are some signs that the chill will be at least a little less harsh by Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
Expect the streak of temperatures below freezing (32 degrees) to come to an end on Tuesday, and possibly could even do so on Monday as the daytime high flirts with 32 degrees by the afternoon. Winds will be lighter Tuesday and Wednesday with highs below-seasonable, still, temperatures will be a degree or two just above freezing. Aside from the cold, the week is pretty quiet. There is a chance for a clipper system to bring light snow overnight Tuesday into early Wednesday morning, which could bring a dusting for some, but as of now, we are not expecting notable snow accumulations.
The dry and cold weather continues throughout the week. There is a chance by Friday evening and early Saturday morning that another quick weather system could bring light snowfall to the Island. Chance is still pretty low, but we will keep a close eye on this as we continue through the week.
