Everything is on track for a wet second half of Saturday, but there will be dry time for parts of the weekend!
Tonight, it will be breezy with scattered light to moderate rain showers off and on through around 10 p.m. Overnight temperatures will start off in the upper 40s and then drop down to around 40 degrees by daybreak on Saturday.
Saturday starts dry! If you still have holiday decorations to take down, you can still get that done in the morning under a mostly cloudy sky. Temperatures will be in the low to middle 40s Saturday afternoon with rain developing, especially after 2 p.m. Once the rain moves in, expect a steady and moderate, chilly rain through the rest of Saturday. While flooding is not expected, roads will be wet with puddles around. Drive with caution. Thankfully, there will not be too much wind with this. Around 1 inch of rain will fall which is beneficial for Long Island right now due to a moderate drought continuing for parts of Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
The rain ends Sunday morning with breaks of sun developing, but it becomes windy Sunday afternoon and evening with some gusts between 30 and 40 mph. Monday will be colder with highs in the upper 30s, but sunny. Tuesday and Wednesday also look dry with high temperatures back in the 40s.
COASTAL STORM LATE-WEEK? There is the chance for a nearby coastal storm at the end of next week that could bring our next wintry weather chance to Long Island. The chance is very slight at the moment and the storm could easily remain offshore and not impact us. That said, this is something the entire News 12 Storm Watch Team will be watching for you into next week.
