Hundreds turned out in Westport on Saturday for the annual Fairfield County Heart Walk and 5K Run.
The event at Sherwood Island State Park helped the American Heart Association raise money for research and other essential work.
Organizers said it feels great to see so many people participate in the event.
"This event is one of the most amazing times every single year for the community to come together for
the American Heart Association's mission," said Kristen Alouisa, of the American Heart Association.
"This is an organization that helps save lives, so to be part of an event like this, I'm truly honored," said News 12's Justin DeVellis.
Organizers said the event promotes physical activity and community heart health.
