Westchester County officials met Monday to announce they're offering space to maintain Social Security services in White Plains.
The move follows news that the current hearing office will close in May.
County Executive Ken Jenkins said the closure could burden those reliant on the services.
"It makes a lot of difference for people who have to either travel to New Haven, Connecticut, down to the Bronx, up to Albany...closing is really not a real option.”
Jenkins added that the county is collaborating with federal officials to explore sites, including the County Center, though the federal government will make the final call.
