Westchester County beaches are reopening ahead of the Labor Day weekend after temporary closures earlier this week.

County officials said beaches in New Rochelle, Mamaroneck and Rye reopened Wednesday.

The beaches had been closed because of bacteria linked to rain runoff.

Officials said conditions have improved, allowing the beaches to reopen to the public.

The reopening comes as many residents prepare to head to the shore for the holiday weekend.
