A man died after falling off an observation platform at the Fire Island Lighthouse, according to the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad.

They say the man fell just before 2 p.m.

Police say the man was seen on video walking into the lighthouse by himself, buying a ticket to the top and then falling to his death. Police believe he intentionally jumped. The lighthouse is closed until further notice.

The man's identity has yet to be determined.
