New Jersey residents will no longer be able to say “fill it up, regular” when purchasing gas at Wawa.
Wawa – one of New Jersey’s largest fuel retailers – says that starting this week, those purchasing fuel will need to pre-pay. This includes all transactions with cash, credit, debit and gift cards.
“This policy is aligned with the way Wawa fuel purchases are made in all other states and provides all customers with a consistent experience,” a Wawa spokesperson told News 12 in a statement. “Wawa customers can continue to use the Wawa App for fuel purchases at our New Jersey stores the same way they have previously.”
A Wawa gas station attendant told News 12 that, for example, if a customer asks for $30 of fuel, but only fills up $25 worth, they will get change.
