A boil water advisory remains in effect in Hoboken following a water main break in Jersey City that occurred on Monday.
“The precautionary boil water advisory will remain in effect until further notice, as testing on water samples will be conducted as soon as possible. Veolia will notify Hoboken customers when the NJDEP lifts the boil water order,” Hoboken officials wrote on the city’s website.
Hoboken businesses and residences are impacted. The Hive was forced to change its menu and rely on bagged ice.
“We are operating at 25% at what we normally operate at,” says manager Ashley Cudley.
Water was gushing out of a hole in the ground on Tuesday at the scene of the break located near 18th Street and Jersey Avenue.
Veolia Water switched to a secondary water source, allowing for some water to flow while work is being done.
The boil water advisory does not include Jersey City residents.
