Hundreds walked one mile from the Country Pointe Shopping Center in Plainview to the Mid Island Y JCC to remember the victims who died during the attacks on Oct. 7, 2023.

Hamas-led militants launched air and ground attacks on Israel, killing nearly 1,200 and taking more than 250 hostages. The attacks, followed hours later by Israeli counterattacks, marked the beginning of the current Israel-Hamas War.

Organizers and participants say they hope for a peaceful resolution and for the remaining Jewish hostages to be released soon.

“Praying for an outcome that provides peace and lasting peace for the Jewish people and all people in the Middle East," said Sam Dubin, with the Jewish Community Relations Council of Long Island.

Several survivors from the attacks spoke to the audience, as well as Omer Neutra's parents, the Plainview native who did not survive.
