Democrat Chris Murphy was reelected to U.S. Senate for a third term.
“Thank you to the people of Connecticut for giving me another chance to be Connecticut’s U.S. State Senator, I’m deeply grateful to this state,” said Murphy in his victory speech on Tuesday night.
His campaign focused on job creation, affordable health care, education, sensible gun laws and a forward-looking foreign policy.
Murphy is a member of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP).
Before getting elected to Congress, Murphy served for eight years in the Connecticut General Assembly where he was the author of the state's historic stem cell investment legislation and the state's workplace smoking ban.
