        Primary election day is one day away, and the match up with the highest stakes on Long Island is in Suffolk County.
        That is where former CNN anchor John Avlon is running for Congress as a Democrat against Nancy Goroff, a former scientist who ran for this seat and lost four years ago.
        The winner will represent Democrats in a district that includes parts of the towns of Huntington, Smithtown, Islip and Brookhaven – as well as every town on the East End.
