Victim in deadly Tremont shooting identified

Police say 32-year-old Clay Monsanto of the Bronx is the man fatally shot on Anthony Avenue.

The name of the man killed in a Tremont shooting Tuesday morning has been revealed.
Police say 32-year-old Clay Monsanto of the Bronx is the man fatally shot on Anthony Avenue.
Surveillance video captured the horrific sound of gunshots when they were fired in front of 1353 Anthony Ave. This all happened at 8:10 a.m.
Police say a man went up to Monsanto pulled out a gun and shot him in the back then ran away. Monsanto was rushed to the hospital where he died shortly after his arrival.
NYPD data shows shootings in the area of the 46th Precinct are down significantly by more than 40%. This time last year there were 31 and right now there are about 18 for the year. However, longtime residents of the Tremont neighborhood say this is not the first shooting on the block this year.
Police say the gunman is still at large. Anyone with information can help police by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
