A Ventnor police officer faces charges after allegedly recording a woman in custody and sharing the videos online.
The incidents occurred last month while the woman was in police holding cells, according to Atlantic County prosecutors.
Ryan Bonnani, 24, is charged with invasion of privacy and official misconduct.
Prosecutors said Bonnani accessed surveillance videos of the woman undressing and performing sexual acts.
He then recorded these videos on his phone and shared them on Snapchat, prosecutors stated.
In a statement, the Ventnor police department says Bonanni is currently on administrative leave and will be suspended when brought up on formal charges. "We understand the charges against a Ventnor officer reflect poorly on our department, but they do not depict the department as a whole. The men and women of the Ventnor City Police Department will continue to serve the citizens and visitors of the of Ventnor City with the utmost honor, integrity and respect," says Police Chief Joseph Wootton.
