A vehicle fire temporarily closed a roadway in Carmel on Friday night, according to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to Watermelon Hill Road at approximately 8:55 p.m. for a reported motor vehicle fire.

The driver was able to pull to the side of the road, and all occupants safely exited before emergency crews arrived.

The roadway was closed to traffic for approximately 30 minutes while firefighters extinguished the blaze.

The scene was later turned over to the Carmel Police Department.

No injuries were reported.
