An early-morning fire on the side of Route 3 destroyed a vehicle in East Rutherford Monday. The blaze erupted just after 1 a.m., according to a social media post by the East Rutherford Fire Department. The incident took place on the South Service Road on Route 3. When fire crews arrived, they found the vehicle completely engulfed in flames near The Monarch, an apartment building in town. Crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control. According to the East Rutherford Fire Department, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
