A buoy from Long Island that washed ashore on a beach in Seaside Heights is attracting attention, according to local officials.
Buoy 13 is currently stranded about 500 yards north of the boardwalk. It floated in from the Ambrose Channel in New York, according to the United State Coast Guard.
"Aids to Navigation Team there is currently working to recover the buoy and get it back in the water," said a USCG spokesperson.
Getting the buoy back into the water could take up to several weeks, according to officials.
A town official told News 12 that the buoy weighs about 13,000 pounds.
