An investigation continues this morning into the mysterious death of a currently unidentified woman whose body was discovered in a small pond in Nassau County Sunday morning.
The Nassau County police homicide squad is leading the probe after responding to Milburn Pond in Baldwin just before 8 a.m. yesterday.
Officials said paramedics determined the woman was dead at the scene, but the circumstances surrounding how she died are still undetermined this morning.
Milburn Pond is in a very small, scenic park off Merrick Road, usually packed with parkgoers, walkers and people launching small boats like kayaks on a nice day. The park is surrounded by Freeport High School on one end and Coral House, a very popular Nassau County wedding venue, on the other side.
Nassau County police still have not identified the woman, said how she died or ended up in the water.
The investigation is ongoing.
