If you’ve ever bought a Mega Millions ticket at Cold Cut Express on Dubois Avenue in Valley Stream, now’s the time to dig through your drawers, pockets and couch cushions. A $1 million winning ticket sold there last December remains unclaimed — and will expire next month.
The ticket, which matched five numbers in the Dec. 13, 2024 drawing, is worth a second-place prize of $1 million. The winning numbers were 36, 43, 52, 58, 65, and the Mega Ball was 16.
Lottery officials say if the prize isn’t claimed by Dec. 13, 2025, the money will be forfeited — a fate that’s rare for such a large amount.
“It’s a shame,” said Ernie Boyd, a Cold Cut Express customer who hopes someone finds the ticket in time.
While smaller prizes often go unclaimed, the New York State Lottery says it’s unusual for a $1 million winner to go unnoticed for nearly a year.
Anyone who discovers the winning ticket should sign the back immediately and contact lottery officials to claim the prize.
If no one steps forward, a majority of the funds will go to support education programs in New York state.
