A day of music, food and celebration in Sunset Park ended with gunfire Sunday evening, leaving two young men injured.
News 12 has obtained exclusive video that appears to show the moments the shooting unfolded near 45th Street and Fifth Avenue, close to where the annual Sunset Park Puerto Rican Parade and Festival was taking place.
The video shows a man wearing red pants running down 45th Street as another man dressed in black appears to open fire. The man in red falls behind a parked car as the gunfire continues. The video also appears to show an object resembling a handgun sliding underneath the vehicle before the shooter runs away.
Citizen video from the scene shows emergency crews helping one of the victims into an ambulance as a large section of the intersection remained blocked off.
According to police, the shooting happened just after 7 p.m.
A 19-year-old man was shot in the left arm, and another man in his 20s was shot in the back. Both were taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn and are expected to recover.
The shooting happened during a busy evening in the neighborhood. The Sunset Park Puerto Rican Parade stepped off along Fifth Avenue earlier in the evening before a festival began near 43rd Street featuring live music, food vendors and community groups.
Police say they are looking for a man who was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants and a black backpack. Investigators say he ran west on 45th Street after the shooting.
