Two small businesses in the City of Newburgh say thieves stole their cash registers and the money inside during an overnight burglary this week.

Triple Shot and Hudson Valley Cheesecake, both located in the same building on Liberty Street, were burglarized sometime overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

Mike Brincka, owner of Triple Shot, told News 12 he learned something was wrong Wednesday morning when he was told both businesses’ cash drawers were missing.

“When I came in, I saw all the papers and everything else piled up,” Brincka said.

Brincka says more than $100 was stolen from his coffee shop.

“We are a small business. We are fighting to survive out here. We don’t have tons of money,” Brincka said.

The business owners say exterior surveillance video appears to show a group of teens they believe are the suspects. They say there were no obvious signs of damage and they do not know how the group got inside.

The business owners told News 12 their building’s landlord has exterior surveillance video of the incident. News 12 reached out to the landlord, who declined to provide the video. News 12 has also reached out to police for more information about the burglary and any potential suspects or arrests.

Despite the setback, both businesses say they plan to keep moving forward.

“We are still very happy to be here and very proud to be here,” the Hudson Valley Cheesecake owner said. “Can’t deter us.”

Brincka echoed that sentiment.

“We have a great community here,” Brincka said. “Newburgh has a lot of heart.”
