Two Atlantic County men were found guilty of murder in the 2021 shooting death of an Atlantic City man following a dispute stemming from a car accident, authorities said.
Denzel Garrison, 33, of Atlantic City, and Laquine Demby, 35, of Pleasantville, were convicted by an Atlantic County jury in the killing of Jahmil Greenidge, 28.
Prosecutors said the conflict began after Garrison and Greenidge were involved in a minor car accident two months before the shooting, leading to a dispute over insurance deductible payments. Authorities said Garrison later enlisted Demby to help carry out the killing.
On May 19, 2021, Demby drove Garrison to Greenidge’s home, where the two waited nearly an hour for him to return from work, according to evidence presented at trial.
Prosecutors said Garrison approached Greenidge from behind and shot him six times in the foyer of his apartment building before the two men fled.
Garrison was found guilty of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was acquitted of creating a grave risk of danger to others.
Demby was found guilty of murder as an accomplice and conspiracy to commit murder.
Both men face life in prison. They have been held in custody since October 2021 and are scheduled to be sentenced May 13.
