Trenton‑Mercer Airport ranks first in U.S. for easiest walk to your gate
While passengers at most major airports may log thousands of steps before boarding a plane, a new study finds that flyers at Trenton‑Mercer Airport can reach their gate faster than any other hub in the U.S. Kuru Footwear recently analyzed the longest and shortest airport walks in the country. The analysis measured the distance from entrance to gate. According to the study, passengers planning to fly out of Trenton‑Mercer Airport only have to walk about 0.03 miles to get to their gate before boarding. The airport sits on about 2.1 square miles of land and has one terminal with four gates. At some larger airports, getting through TSA security checkpoints and walking to the gate with luggage in tow can seem like a trip of its own. This year, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport was ranked as having the longest airport walk at about 1.5 miles from entrance to gate. In putting together the list of longest and shortest airport walks, the footwear company identified the 10 largest and 10 smallest airports based on land area, then measured the distance from the entrance to the gate. It only included airports located within 60 miles of a major metropolitan area.
