Bridgeport officials have launched a massive citywide crackdown on illegal dumping, warning violators that the city will seize their vehicles if they are caught.
A new specialized task force led by the police chief will spearhead the investigation and prosecution of individuals who treat the city like a trash can.
The initiative comes amid rising frustration from local residents, like 78-year-old Cecile Young, who frequently find construction debris and junk hidden underneath highway overpasses out of view from security cameras.
While city workers are moving quickly to clean up reported sites, officials remind residents that legitimate debris can be brought directly to the city Transfer Station on Asylum Street.
