Multiple train cars derailed Thursday night on Conrail property in Jersey City.
A spokesperson for Conrail said none of the train cars that went off track were carrying hazardous materials.
"We can confirm there was a train derailment on Conrail property in Jersey City, NJ this evening. The cars are intact, and there are no hazardous materials onboard the derailed cars," Conrail said.
No railway crossings or public roads were impacted by the derailment, and no injuries have been reported.
Jersey City Mayor James Solomon said he was briefed on the situation and thanked law enforcement for responding quickly.
"The Turnpike Authority, Conrail, and our Public Safety team remain on site to direct the recovery," Solomon said.
Conrail said crews remain at the scene, and the cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
