A heads up for drivers in Norwalk this weekend. A portion of East Avenue, including under the Metro-North Railroad Bridge, will be closed to traffic from 8 p.m. Friday, April 24, through 6 a.m. Monday, April 27, as part of the ongoing Walk Bridge Replacement Project.
The stretch from Fort Point Street to Winfield Street will shut down again, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation. That same section was also closed for about three weeks last month.
Though this time is a much shorter stint, it may mean backups and alternate routes for those heading to and from the beach. For anyone trying to catch a train at the East Norwalk station, remember to leave extra time.
Signs for detours will be posted, according to the CTDOT. Northbound traffic will use Gregory Boulevard to Van Zant to Fort Point Street to East Avenue. Southbound traffic will be re-routed from Fort Point Street to Van Zant Street to East Avenue.
