Torrington police officers responded to a motorcycle crash along Winstead Road near the Sinkhole Bridge around 7 p.m. Saturday.

Responding officers determined that a motorcycle was traveling southbound and lost control causing both the driver and passenger to be ejected.

One of the motorcycle occupants was identified as 58-year-old Robert Hackett, of Winsted, who sustained life-threatening injuries

Hackett was transported to a hospital where he is in critical but stable condition.

The second occupant of the motorcycle was identified as 54-year-old Kelly Maloney, of Torrington. She was transported to a hospital also in critical but stable condition.

The Torrington Police Department says the investigation remains ongoing.
