For 25-year-old Shea Guerriero, getting to work means spending about three hours a day on the road — and on the rails.
Guerriero lives in Long Branch and commutes by train to her corporate fashion job in New York City three days a week. The trip takes about an hour and a half each way, and she says she spends roughly $150 a week on the commute.
She makes the most of her time on the train, even doing her makeup during the ride.
But Guerriero says the long commute is a sacrifice she's willing to make because of what she's building outside of her day job.
She owns The Main Ave Collective in Ocean Grove, a small business she hopes to eventually run full-time.
Guerriero says the experience she's gaining in the corporate fashion world is helping her grow her own business.
After getting home from work, she often heads straight to her store to re-merchandise and keep the business moving.
While the schedule can be exhausting, Guerriero says the goal is to eventually make her own business her full-time job.
For now, she says the three-hour daily commute is simply the price she's willing to pay for the future she's building for herself.
