There was a large turnout of revelers in Stamford Sunday for the annual Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular.

It began at the intersection of Summer and Hoyt streets and ends on Atlantic and Federal streets.

The parade is known for its giant balloons and features marching bands, a trampoline show and dancers.

Many consider the parade to be the official start of the holiday season.
