Thousands of cyclists hit the streets Sunday for the 32nd annual Tour de Bronx, the largest free cycling event in New York State.
This year’s theme, “Pedaling Through History,” took riders through neighborhoods, parks and waterfront areas across the Bronx.
Cyclists could choose between 10-, 25- and 40-mile routes, beginning at 161st Street and the Grand Concourse and ending at the New York Botanical Garden.
Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson said the event is designed to bring families together, promote healthy lifestyles and showcase the borough’s scenery.
For many participants, the free ride has become an annual tradition, bringing cyclists of all ages and experience levels together to celebrate the Bronx on two wheels.
