Thick, smoke could be seen rising over the Bronx Tuesday afternoon as firefighters battle a fire aboard a docked barge at a sanitation yard along the waterfront, according to the FDNY.

Fire crews were called to 4275 Boston Road at about 2:20 p.m. for reports of a fire at a sanitation facility.

Officials say the blaze involves a 200 x 40-foot barge docked in port.

Video shows a towering column of dark smoke billowing high into the sky and drifting across the area.

An FDNY tower ladder can be seen extended above the scene as firefighters work to contain the fire.
