The satirical news website The Onion announced Monday they have reached a deal to take over of Alex Jones' platform Infowars.
In 2022, Jones was found liable for defamation for repeatedly saying that the 2012 shooting was hoax. Jones has yet to pay the billion dollars in damages he owes. As a result, his assets were put for sale.
CEO Ben Collins
posted on social media, "with the help of the Sandy Hook families, The Onion has reached a long-awaited deal to take over InfoWars."
Tim Heidecker, who will be InfoWars' Creative Director, posted on
Instagram that they plan to relaunch the site and are working on content to post.
A hearing on the deal is set for April 30.
