High school musical season has begun across Westchester and the Hudson Valley. Pleasantville High School kicked off with "The Music Man" this weekend, transforming its stage into River City, Iowa, complete with "76 trombones" and "110 cornets," as the cast sang.
The school's lobby became a charming River City train station, featuring kids from middle and elementary schools in the cast.
Director Nadia Rizzo said, "I think theater changes lives right, and that is what we are doing here at Pleasantville High School, we need the happiness, we need the music, we need the magic, this show brings people from all abilities, all walks of life, all experience levels together."
Young theatergoers enjoyed horse and carriage rides outside and met characters from the show.
Performances continue next Friday and Saturday.
