The Islanders’ newest puppy with a purpose
America’s VetDogs and the New York Islanders have teamed up again to raise a future service dog - and he’s already stealing hearts.
Marty, a 9-week-old yellow Lab, is the sixth Puppy with a Purpose to join the Islanders family.
Named after fan favorite Matt Martin, Marty will spend the next year learning the ropes with help from Islanders fans, staff and the community. He’ll be spotted at games and events, getting used to all kinds of sights and sounds to prepare for his future role supporting a veteran or first responder with disabilities.
To date, the team has helped raise three guide dogs for people who are blind or have low vision, as well as two service dogs for veterans and first responders with disabilities.
Fans can follow Marty’s adventures on Instagram at @nyislespup. To learn more about America’s VetDogs, visit VetDogs.org.
